What exactly is a Business
Card CD-ROM?
A Business Card CD is a small, specially cut
CD-ROM, usually with a multimedia presentation or other computer
file copied onto it. Because of its size, they are considered a
convenient way to provide a business presentation or other
collateral information about a company, organization, or person
when the resources are not immediately available to present this
formally. (Example: You meet someone on the golf course and find
out that this person or his company could use your services. A
business card CD could be given to this person who could view its
content later, and possibly pass it along to others)
Unlike a typical business card,
however, the Business Card CD contains a sales or corporate
presentation enabling the viewer to see the services and benefits
of the company or person that produced it.

How much information will a
Business Card CD hold?
Business
card CD's will typically hold about 50MB. This may vary,
especially with specially cut CD's or with older business card
CD's. Since 2000, these CD's have been more or less standardized.
As a general rule, 50MB is more
than enough for multimedia presentations. Exceptions would be
those presentations that contain a great deal of video or
high-quality sound bytes. In most cases, sound and video files can
be compressed.

Will a Business Card CD run
in my computer?
The short
answer is yes. CD-ROM trays, even in older systems have a space
that accommodates a business card CD. This tray also holds pocket
CD-R's. This special tray is the recessed area within the normal
sized CD tray.
CD's placed in notebook computer
are placed directly on the CD drive spindle. The spindle is that
piece that fits in the middle of all CD's, business card sized,
normal, etc. and spins allowing the disc to be read. Although some
business card CD manufacturers suggest that spindles will not work
well with their products, we have never experienced problems with
spindle reading.
Since the vast majority of
businesses run Windows operating system, we strongly suggest that
the files placed on your business card CD's are PC compatible.
Macintosh systems will read PC formatted discs (generally
speaking) but may not always read the PC files (.exe, for example)
We can include files that are compatible with both platforms, if
necessary.

What should go onto my
Business Card CD?
Typically,
we advise our clients to place a multimedia presentation that
lasts no more than 15 minutes on the business card CD. Why?
Several reasons. Multimedia captures attention and helps keep your
audience interested. It allows the presentation to link to a web
site for more information, or click on a mail link to immediately
prepare an e-mail back to your company. Sound allows voice over
and testimonials and animation keeps the intensity of the
presentation high.
We also recommend that the
business card CD auto-play, meaning that the disc starts once it
is inserted, without requiring the user to do anything. We offer
the software to ensure that all multimedia presentations,
including PowerPoint files, run automatically and without any
additional software required.
Depending on the nature of the
files pressed to CD, the autorun feature may not be implemented,
especially if you have several important files on the disc. Your
presentation could be accompanied by application forms,
spreadsheets and the like. If this is the case, the autorun
feature would not be added.

Pressing PowerPoint
presentations to CD
(Standard and Business Card CD-ROM)
Most of us have
received presentations that have been pressed onto a CD-ROM.
PowerPoint presentations can easily be pressed onto standard or
business card CD-ROM's. We can even add software that enables the
presentation to run automatically once the CD has been placed in
the tray. The viewer does not have to have any additional
software. In addition, we can professionally design the cover of
the CD and place it in its own jewel case.

Business Card CD - Shapes and
Sizes
Business
Card CD's are also unique in that they can be shaped for a better
impact. Providing that they are symmetrical or, more specifically,
equally weighted on all opposing sides, shaped business card CD's
can better fit customized packaging. These are especially useful
at trade shows and other corporate functions. Pricing for these
shaped business card CD's vary and an additional one-time fee for
dye-cutting will apply.
Packaging Options for
Business Card CD-ROM
Your business
Card CD can be presented in several attractive packages. Each of
these packages are designed to hold the CD and provide enough
"at-a-glance" information to generate even more excitement. CD
Wallets, CD Jackets, and CD sleeves are available. Please go to
our contact
page to inquire about specifics for your project.

Business Card CD-ROM in Low
Volume
Ordinarily,
to keep production and per CD costs low, a minimum order of
several hundred was required. Occasionally, a small business card
CD order would be perfectly suited for a particular sales meeting,
corporate function, or meeting. Rather than generate hundreds, we
offer business card CD's in low volumes (between 10-30) These CD's
are produced, designed and printed without having to set up a
major production run.
Imagine being able to drop a
clients' logo directly into the CD presentation and on the front
of the business card CD. Your clients and prospects will
appreciate the special attention!
Realtors! - There is no better
way to market upscale homes than with these CD's. Short
presentations with photos and music pressed onto business card
CD's will help shorten the sales cycle. |
